California is a great hotbed of various sounds in one umbrella. From rap to soul to alt-rock to yacht rock, gospel to funk to blues and bedroom pop, the state just manages to house artists at their most creatively crossbred, and a good example of that comes in the form of breakthrough artists The Afro Nick.
He took on the moniker on the account of his wild and expressive hair that represents an uninhibited form of freedom, a tangible representation of the angst of adolescence latching over into adulthood as he creates indie rock tracks with impressive production and guitarwork paired with evocative lyrics sung with the snappiness it deserves and ultimately, featuring a uniquely distinctive sound.

On “Get There Before Noon”, The Afro Nick manages to create a track that feels kinetic while at the same time, tense, as if staying still is a great big bummer, and the track chugs along to a pace that is downright infectious with the amazing guitar chords curving through the entire mix as synths complement perfectly to a track that features elements of indie, alternative and psychedelic rock as well as a dash of blues-rock and even shoegaze.
This track demands your attention and makes a good case for itself and I would give time to pay the track mind as urgently as one can.
