Meet Bird Bone, a Russia-based band composed of Seva Shaposhnikov, Nikita Vinogradov, Alexandr Korolev, Vlad Layming, and Dmitriy Morozov. Bird Bone is an emo outfit founded in 2017 in Yaroslavl, Russia. Their band was recognized through the technical guitar work and expressive vocals blending in the rawness of tragedy with a hint of gentle sadness. Bird Bone’s story was always one of struggle because initially, the band members were split between two cities. Thankfully, they still managed to tour and play together. Many issues such as COVID and military conflicts in countries they are settling in have happened. Ultimately, the band members found themselves scattered across three countries namely Russia, Armenia, and the Netherlands. Despite being in this situation, the power of friendship keeps them united and rocking together. As of 2024, Bird Bone is still releasing music and even plays massive sold-out shows. They also released a new album, which will be in center stage in this article.
The album in question is the newly released LP entitled “Лейтмотив” (Leitmotiv). Лейтмотив is the band’s sophomore album, with elements of melodic hardcore, pop-punk, math-rock, screamo, and even black glaze, forging their distinctive style as a group.

Shaposhnikov says, “Over the past few years, the world has become a much darker and more uncomfortable place. Through our music, we simply try to heal ourselves and rediscover hope.” A little fact that the band shared that’s in line with what was formerly stated is that the band reached out to their fans and asked them to record their voices. As a result of this, the album ends with a cathartic sing-along performed by over 160 fans and friends. Through this, they were literally heard and belonged to a space where they feel safe and seen. The voices repeat a simple mantra: “We will shout through the open windows that the sun will rise again and we will feel better.”
