Released on April 12, 2024, Leyte-based singer-songwriter Ed Galo, brought forth another incredible track titled “Laging Ikaw” three months after the successful release of his single “Paraiso.”
Laging Ikaw welcomes its listeners with a wave of heat with the combination of its instrumentals. It instantly levitates the listeners in a different dimension and transports them to a scenery of two people solemnly talking about love and the promises that come with it. Love songs packaged in a heavier beat and melody will always be mesmerizing, and Laging Ikaw is one of those songs you’ll crave more after listening to. Solemn and calm love songs will always be the more traditional way of writing and composing a song, but this one just hits the right spot with its matching tune to the intensity of its lyrics.
Laging Ikaw is like composing wedding vows into a song, it’s like presenting an engagement ring through music. It beautifully expresses a deep commitment and endless love for one’s partner. This track is perfect for conveying sincere intentions and affirming that someone is truly valued and worth cherishing.
Its first verse talks about how no matter what path the persona chooses, all roads will lead to, and only to, the persona’s muse. It was then told in the second verse that there is only one that is needed to be found, and it’s you―only you― the muse that the persona is dedicating their life to. Then the chorus came. It talks about how the persona is only asking for one thing, and it is to be with the person they love for the rest of their lives, no matter what problems may arise, even if the world chooses to turn its back on the persona, they will always choose to be with their muse, no questions asked.
This song is a perfect song to be played in events such as proposal parties, weddings, or even Valentine’s Day programs. It aims not to only satisfy our auditory capacities but also our minds and hearts with its well-written lyrics.
