Can’t Go Under by The Deadly Beloved

Okay, let me start off by saying that if you’re into hi-fi production, this track probably isn’t for you. But if you love the lo-fi, garage aesthetic, this should be right up your alley.

This song is pretty gnarly. There’s a lot of awesome stuff going on. If you’re like me, and you like your headphones to be full of sound, I’m telling you to go listen to this song.

It’s very vampire. Very Rocky Horror Picture Show. But it’s not cheesy. It’s sung really well, and the backing instrumentals are performed really well, especially the lead guitar.

Which isn’t to say the lead guitar carries the track. I think the vocals do. The Deadly Beloved has a lead vocalist with a very interesting voice that fits this vibe great.

But I do think it’s worth calling out the guitar parts, and even the bass guitar. The guitarist really knows how to amplify the song at the right moments. The song isn’t full of unnecessary solos, and the guitarist isn’t fighting for center stage, but instead does an excellent job at providing the right amount of excitement and interest throughout the song to make it engaging. The bassist too, finds great moments to stick out, and play some great fills and lines.

I think this is a really cool and fun sound if you’re into the horror vibe. And musically, I think it’s really solid, not just from a performance, but a composition stand-point.

Definitely check it out if you are looking for something different!
