Alone In Milan by Brandonrxse (EP Review)

With three tracks embodying his different music styles, “Alone In Milan” by Brandonrxse is a quick little getaway as it also contains groovy, chill melodies perfect for downtime.

Being named the way it is, Brandonrxse claimed that this EP came to be during a solo trip in Milan, and it shows. Not to say that it’s nine minutes about the city itself, but when you stroll around alone, reflection and the immense flow of ideas are entirely possible. That is exactly how this EP sounds.

“SWISS MONEY” starts it all off strong, with an introduction that will have you intrigued and gives the implication of an actual introduction to a short journey. The chattering people is a nice touch, given the EP’s aesthetic.

Next up is “HOLLYWOOD FOREVER”, a smooth yet different aura from the first one. This one feels like the peak (technically, it is, being the song at the middle) of the major thought that surfaced during this trip in Milan, supported by lyrics such as “If I told you the truth, would you doubt me? If I left you alone, would you stop me?” It’s quite filled with questions, which comes up naturally when one is in deep thought; it just makes sense.

Last but not the least, “TOO MUCH LEAN”. Again, a neat rhythm to start off the song, and it gives off the vibe that the EP is indeed coming to an end. Upon reaching this third and final track, it shows that there’s stability in each song, maintaining a feel true to Brandon’s sound.

There seems to be an underlying structure within these songs; like it follows a chronological order of thought process, which adds relevance to the EP title. We may not know the correlation of Milan, Italy to the actual meaning of everything, but one thing’s for sure: Milan did this EP well.
