Cavite’s Invictus Nails That Early 2000s Comeback Vibe

Let’s get this out of the way: Invictus knows what they’re doing. You can tell from the first few seconds of “Look At Me” that this four-piece band from Cavite City has done their homework. The guitars are tight, the mix is clean, and the energy hits like a Red Horse on an empty stomach.

This track sounds like it time-traveled straight from the early 2000s, when Vans were dirty, hearts were broken in Yahoo Messenger, and pop punk ruled every school program. Think Sugarcult, early Boys Like Girls, with a bit of OPM grit and charm.

Look At Me is about hitting rock bottom. That moment when life goes full telenovela and you’re just done. But then someone—maybe a friend, maybe your mom, maybe your future self in a parallel timeline—pulls you out. The lyrics don’t hand it to you in black and white. And that’s what makes it hit harder.

And when it’s love that made your heart be found, take a look at me!”,

“And when it’s time for you to stand your ground, take a look at, take a look me!”

Dude. Those are the kind of lines that makes you text someone at 1AM just to say “thank you.”

Seriously though, this is that song you blast in the car on the way to La Union with your homies, windows down, salty air blowing in, everyone shouting the chorus even if they just heard it for the first time. Or maybe you’re alone in your room, hoodie on, fake mic in hand, pretending you’re on stage. It works both ways.

But hey, you don’t just listen to this song. You feel it. Somewhere between your ribcage and your teenage journal.

Invictus, you got us looking. Now we’re waiting for more.
