The Unexplored, Explored: “This Room” by Me & Munich

With a persistent beat and a wicked energy brought to you by the guitar with its multiple effects including but not limited to what sounds like the wah pedal, this song’s melody really sticks with you, as there’s something captivating about how the vocals are layered up. It definitely adds emphasis to what Me & Munich are trying to convey.

Sound-wise, the opening lines give audiences a familiar feel of alternative rock, preparing them for what’s to come in the next few minutes. This track begins and ends with a bang, every note and beat being on top of their respective games. Not to mention it fits the meaning extremely well.

According to the band, it gives light to male stereotypes in which they’ve chosen to put aside their emotions. This is actually something that needs to be said, as there wouldn’t be total ‘human rights’ if men’s mental health is overlooked.

The title, “This Room”, is a great symbol for what’s being discussed here: the mind, particularly of a man, heavily suppressed and locked away in great depth. It also refers to it as an ‘attic’ at some point, which is a devastating, yet accurate way to put it. With that said, this song excels in pretty much every aspect, which is why it’s a great recommendation for all.
