Without any other preambles, “Executioner” blows one away

Executioner by The End Is Near is normally not a track that I would be listening to, but I’m always open to being blown away, and without any other preambles, Executioner blows one away.

The experience was immediate and violent. All you get as a moment to brace yourself is the sound of steel chains clanking off, as if to sound like something has just been let loose and is immediately answered by an instant wall of sound. The guitars hit like a runaway freight train as each note literally chugs along, the drums operate with speeds and force that I’m pretty sure such sounds are illegal and yet, it adds so much drama to the whole effort. As for the vocalist? He sounds like he’s either summoning a demon or actively fighting one. My money’s on the latter. While this isn’t my usual genre, I simply can’t deny the sheer technical skill on display. It’s overwhelming, yet somehow exhilarating, like getting caught in a tornado and deciding to just see where it takes you.

At a runtime that is essentially half of a standard pop song, the track goes full-force as much as possible and the result is a high-octane track that makes you want to wrestle furniture, Royal-Rumble style. Do I respect it? Absolutely. There’s an undeniable power behind this music, and if you enjoy songs that feel like a controlled demolition of your senses, “Executioner” is your new anthem. It’s a quick track and is worth a listen.
