Pulling Me (Pushing Me) is a great song. I’ll tell you why. It creates a great vibe. It’s warm and inviting. This is the kind of song you want to hear live. That you want to see performed. There’s a lot of complexities to this song that will go unnoticed by many an ear, but that will be felt by everyone in a crowd or bar.
The guitar is pretty, and played really well, and with the vocals, creates a very warm and welcoming tone and atmosphere, even in the recording. But this kind of funk, this kind of groove, needs to be felt, by the whole body, to truly do it justice. It’s the kind of bass line and groove that needs to be experienced in front of a stage.

This is a song with a soul. These guys know how to play; they know music inside and out. And it’s the depth of their knowledge that allows them to deliver the experience we all seek as fans of the art.
That’s not to say this recording is poorly produced. It’s simply meant to mean that this kind of music, played by musicians of this caliber, is worth buying a ticket to see live. This song is a clear indication that these guys can not only put together a catchy, thoughtful tune, but also perform music that you should absolutely want to immerse yourself in. It’s in their tone.
Is this a good song? Absolutely. But the heart of this review is that you’re going to want to catch these guys live as soon as you can. This amount of soul needs to be felt with the bones, as much as it needs to be heard by the ears. And you’re really only going to get the full experience when they’re manning the controls (and their instruments).
