The Falling (432Hz) by Autorub

When this song started, the thing that stuck out to me was how clean it sounded. The instrumentals, especially the guitars, are super tight, and the vocals are well controlled and in tune.

That’s not always the case with this kind of music. It’s got a punk vibe and spirit. I’m in a punk band, and we get criticized all the time for lacking the technical proficiency that this track embodies. It’s actually a nice change of pace, to hear this kind of vocal harmony on top of crunchy guitars and a banger beat.

And there’s an unworldliness to the vibe. It really feels like, as a listener, you’re being judged by some kind of alien looking down on you from a world above. This is heightened by the unique chorus melody and the content of the lyrics.

It’s kind of humorous. This kind of music tends to be about taking the reins, controlling your own life and sticking it to the man. But this track speaks to the opposite. It’s almost hippy. The idea that you should let your hair back and go with the flow. Let the universe guide you. Put trust in others.

It’s an amalgamation of musical styles and philosophy that I might call sarcastic if I didn’t think the message was sincere. Definitely a track to listen to if you want to do some self-reflection and some deeper thinking. If it doesn’t strike you as such, listen to it again!
