Taylor Swift Announces New Album, ‘Tortured Poets Department’

I’m sure most of us were expecting Taylor Swift to win “Best Pop Vocal Album” during the 2024 Grammy Awards last Sunday, February 5, 2024. Listening to “Midnights” gave us this floaty, dreamy, sort of Alice in Wonderland and romantic kind of story that only Taylor Swift would be creative enough to write – it was no wonder she won an award that night for the eleventh time in a row. As everyone watched her walked through that stage in her elegant, black-and-white gown, we all expected her to announce the release of her version of “reputation”. With all the profile picture changes leading up to that week, everyone knew it was only a matter of time before its released to the public.

What we didn’t expect was when she starts announcing her brand new album, “The Tortured Poets Department”, along with the cover photo (left) and what seems to be lines from a song in the album on her Instagram account.

In this blog post, I’ll be more than happy to share everything I know about the upcoming album and why it’s generating so much buzz on the Internet. If you’re a Swiftie like me, feel free to read on!

What's The Tortured Poets Department All About?

Based from the album title, I’m taking a guess here and say that the album’s theme sort of tells a story of artists and poets’ challenges and internal conflicts in their desperate attempt at expressing their art or their feelings.

While we don’t have a single clue on how the tracks are going to sound yet, it was said that some fans went digging and found out about the discussion Joe Alwyn had with Paul Mescal last December 2022 where both men talked about having a WhatsApp group chat with Andrew Scott called “The Tortured Man Club”.

Taylor and Joe broke up not more than four months after this discussion was aired on Vintage.
