Sunlit Memory Blesses Us with New Song “Lalim”

Here’s one for the lovers and the hopeless romantics.

Sunlit Memory, an emerging artist from Dreamify’s rich roster of talents, is a music project of band 157’s Eugene Dela Cruz to tell stories about hope, love, heartbreak, and facing the world. The concept of this project is about looking back on moments that emanate warmth and give you comfort like a vintage film photo of a vivid memory of better times.

Following the release of his demo, Can You Tell What’s On My Mind? comes Lalim — a dreamy ode to the muse who is much deserving of the stars. According to the description in the song’s official audio on YouTube, “Lalim is an acoustic, intimate song that opens up and expresses depth as the song reaches its climax. It conveys the struggle of capturing someone through poetry because you know that the person is so much more than what you can ever convey through words. As it captures the feeling of being deeply enchanted by a person, this song will remind you of how freeing it is to fall in love”.

The song’s lyrics convey that the persona speaks to their muse by telling them that they are deserving of something much more than what they can offer. Despite this, it song also gives a comforting feeling because it gives reassurance to its muse that no matter what happens, the persona will continue to pursue them.

Personally, my favorite lines from the song are:

Pero di mabigyan ng hustisya ng aking mga tula ang iyong ganda, na parang

Karagatan sa lalim at kalangitan sa akin. At ako’y biglang tahimik nabighani na sa yong kaluluwa.”

This particular clause of lines—at least for me, as a hopeless romantic—perfectly reflects and embodies how genuine and pure the persona’s love is for their muse.
