Who wouldn’t turn their heads at the concept of an AI gaining consciousness… through song? There’s something weirdly philosophical and terrifyingly good with oph.ai’s “falling fwd”, where every element that usually contradicts seems to work out in the end.
Right off the bat, this song features acoustic guitar and techy, grunge effects to back up the concept of this track. The vocals also consist of effects here and there, making it more in-tune with everything else. It’s great overall, but wouldn’t listeners get the notion of what it means for AI to actually perceive the world as it is? To match it all up with the repetition of “holds great danger?”
It ends with a monotone dialogue, which states that Alan Turing, a well-known contributor to the field of computer science and artificial intelligence, “believes machines can think”, although he lies with men, or human beings, leading the dialogue to conclude that “machines do not think”.
This is definitely something worth geeking and overthinking for, white simultaneously enjoying all the sounds and trinkets of this track, of course. There’s not much more to say about the concept as a whole other than it’s brilliantly unique, something people would make a Reddit thread for.
