NEW KID ON THE BLOCK: CELESTIAL PRODUCTIONS’ BIRTH IN THE MUSIC SCENE

Who or what is Celestial Productions and why are they making noise in the local music scene?

The gig scene is now experiencing a full revival. This is evident from the social media posts and promotional posters posted across different platforms. The local live music scene is once again thriving after its bitter fall at the height of the pandemic in 2020. This comeback is possible all thanks to all the local event production groups keeping our OPM Scene alive and kicking. Because of them, these gigs became more accessible to the public, leading to more traction for our local artists.

Celestial Productions is one of them. They produce gigs and make the entrance fee as cheap as possible so that the general public can afford them. They were considered the new kids on the block, only launching their production last November 25, 2023, and made their comeback last June 2, 2024.

We, anti pop punk pop punk club, are fortunate enough to be invited to their comeback gig held last July 4, 2024, named Fusebox Volume 1. They championed ten indie bands of different genres in this gig. Tickets for this specific event were priced at 250 pesos for pre-sale and 300 pesos for walk-ins. The event started at 8 pm with an opening from Faith Corvatch. They performed their original songs Ednis Presley, Caliber .38, Nasusunog ang Cubao, and Masakit Likod Ko. Their performance set the mood for the event that night.

Other artists that performed in Fusebox Volume 1 were Cassette Tape with their original songs Artisan’s Eyes, Bedrot, Ink, and Mistiko, IDTKT The Band with Twenty One Pilot’s Next Semester and their originals Vibration of Disco, Live Once More, Blue Thoughts, and Without You, Oath with Walktrip’s Ilostmysanityanditskindascary, Deftones’s Be Quiet and Drive, and two of their originals Paalam and Paglisan, Criminal Cinema with five of their originals Brought To You By, Dilim ng Buwan, Fresh, Dina Bonnevie, and Apple, Dar with Dilaw’s Walwal, Unique’s Goodnight Prayer, and two of their originals Sa’king Tabi and Imahinasyon, Lightbringer with WD-HAN’s Spaceman and three of their originals Balakid Blues, Strait Jacket, and Gambit, Them with their originals Sirang Plaka, Rakista!, Fall, and Para Sa, Matoki with Fine Lines, The Streets, Across ur City, and Strawberry Girl, and Josen with Ngiti, You’ll Be Mine, Di Mo Batid, and Slow Dancing in a Burning Room.

It was one of the most memorable nights that I have ever had, watching these artists perform while being one with the crowd who obviously enjoy the music and each other’s company. Without Celestial Productions, I may have not experienced this memorable night.
