With the internet and the World Wide Web being easily accessible in the present, our lives have become more fast-paced than ever. This is what Philippine-based pop-punk/alternative band Mundane’s newly released song is about. It was released last Friday, June 28, 2024. The track is entitled Where Flowers Used To Bloom ― an emotional piece that aims to remind you that you have come far and wide already despite the challenges that come along the way and that despite being worn out from all the things that come with growing up, you are still here, persevering. All of your efforts are not wasted and it is visible to those who surrounds you.
As a pop-punk track, the song opens with an energetic guitar strumming, followed by the drums, and then soon a blend of all the instruments of the band. Vocally, it feels genuine, heartfelt, and raw. The band’s vocalist perfectly depicted the pain, the hope, and the love that makes the listener feel seen and validated. Only people who mastered the art of projecting can make this happen, to make them sympathize with you and with the persona from the song.
The song was also written beautifully, it is introspective and deeply personal. The connection of these beautiful lyrics and the vocals are one of a kind. These lyrics can also be associated to people in creative spaces and industries. Sometimes, people in these spaces get discouraged because our country doesn’t value art as much as the next country does, especially if we talk about monetary compensation. This results in a lack of support from family and friends. But hey, many people are looking forward to your art so keep creating, ok?
