Maverick Smith Debuts with “With Friends & Imperfections”: A Music With A Cause

Live concerts do always give people the type of adrenaline rush where you feel like the energy pulsates in every cell in your system, and Maverick Smith through his music offers the same thrill. On October 10th, 2024, this US-based promising band drops their highly anticipated album “With Friends & Imperfections,” a 10-track collection that is guaranteed to sweep you off your feet with the signature rock n’ roll and the authentic sound of this group!

Maverick Smith’s heart is as big as its sound, as the proceeds of this album will be donated to help individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The band definitely knows how to really make a difference both through music and through their actions, so join them on this experience.

“With Friends & Imperfections” opens with the track “Hold On,” and from the opening notes of this track, I can’t help but be reminded of one of my favorite songs, Hero Too, from the anime My Hero Academia. It has a similar structure, and with that kind of familiarity, I can’t help but like this song. This song carries an important message to keep holding on despite having a life full of challenges because eventually, after a very challenging day, everything will be better. It is a fun track that induces a spirit of hope—it is definitely a great way to open the whole collection.

Following this is “Do I? ”, a track with very nice vocals in its introduction singing lines and asking for some clarity about a budding relationship with a person that he’s interested in. In my personal preference, I find this track very catchy with its driving tone and rhythm. Yet again, the band brought their fun side through their sound as the protagonist on this track gently laid out his feelings through the lines that he was singing. Each note is a work of art and just works perfectly on this track—from all the stops and turns, the high and low notes—everything is well-placed, hence, a great song.

“Let’s Leave” and “Break My Heart,” I find these tracks similar in terms of structure. It also has a great sound with the band’s signature instrumentality of driving guitars and drums with the addition of an accordion to the whole production. Moreover, I’d like to focus on the vocals too—it’s all great; I daresay close to perfection. These tracks gave a great impression of how a certain person took over their lives through good actions and eventually ended up breaking their hearts.

“Spookshow” is also featured on this release—a great track to blast on your speakers as the Halloween season is already setting in! With Maverick Smith’s signature sound and the added voice effects to make some parts of the song gritty and dark, it made a great effect that added further drama to the whole piece. To hear more from the band, “Through This Tonight,” “For the Kids,” “Health and Politics,” and “Dirty Teeth” are also featured on this release.

Finally, “Thinking of You” closes the whole collection with its driving guitar riffs and great-sounding notes from the featured accordion. It is a catchy-sounding track wherein the artist daydreams about a person that he’s interested in—I’m thinking of you thinking of me—this song serves as the best ending for the whole collection.

Maverick Smith has done a great job of producing such a high-quality full album through “With Friends & Imperfections.” Honestly, I haven’t heard of any stumbles on this release; it was all done perfectly. From how the songs were written to the way it was all performed (highlight to the fact that all the vocals here are god-like, so unreal!), and to the way the songs were produced, it’s all top-notch! So, what are you waiting for? Headphones on and stream “With Friends & Imperfections” by Maverick Smith! Make a difference while enjoying great-sounding music!
