J. Switay’s Debut Album “30 Years Down And All I Have To Show For It Is This Album”

Looking for a way to wrap up the month of March? You’re in luck because J.Switay, a Georgia-based artist, just dropped his debut album entitled 30 Years Down And All I Have To Show For It Is This Album. The 12-track album mostly revolves around the genre of hip-hop and RnB. This album also features multiple talented artists like Colgate, Deezy104, KasOnTheMic, Robbie J., and Soloman Banks.

According to J.Switay, they spent almost eight to nine months working on this album. He was also the one who produced and engineered the tracks in its entirety. This album was special because it is very personal to J.Switay and it reflects their life. Most of the tracks mirror specific things that happened to them and reflect the emotions they felt over the years.

30 Years Down And All I Have To Show For It Is This Album opens with The Wait (Hold On). This track immerses us in synth goodness while telling us the story of the persona and their journey of holding on and fighting demons in their life.  “I Don’t Think They Get It,” features artist KasOnTheMic. Packaged in an electronic hip-hop genre, this second track immerses us in a rant about how ugly the world is by judging us, while not knowing the whole story of our lives and also our struggles.

“Falling Through The Floor,” is the album’s 3rd track. It features artists Robbie J and Soloman Banks. In an electrifying trap hip-hop track, the three of them transported us into a narrative of the persona and the love of their life. The song sounds like an ode to the persona’s muse.

In the album’s 4th track comes the RnB hip-hop stunner, “Complicated.” KasOnTheMic is also featured in this track. This song is a pre-breakup song for partners who seem to face too many complications in their relationship. And for the album’s lead single, “Euphoria.” This track opens with an electrifying, synth and upbeat melody. This song was first released as a single last March 2021. This song’s lyricism dives into feeling euphoric, being at the top of the world.

“Can’t Get Enough,” the album’s 6th track, opens up with a pop hip-hop feel. Artists Colgate, Robbie J., and Solaman Banks are featured in this track. The song mostly focused on the romantic side of storytelling. It shows how the persona talking in the song can’t get enough of this one girl.

For the 7th track, entitled “Don’t Judge Me,” featuring Soloman Banks and Deezy104, welcomes listeners to a lo-fi technopop that sounds like it will lift you to the clouds. The first verse then hits you with a wham! of trap hiphop. It tells a story about being imperfect, tripping down in life and getting back up again. 8th track is entitled “Album Session 8:30:23.” It fired fiery lyrics from the start of the song until its last beat. It dabbles in the trap and hip-hop genre. This song gives the vibe of a dance-and-drinking night in a famous nightclub in your town.

Moving on to the 9th track, J.Switay gave us a very heartfelt instrumental entitled “Nocturne For My Cats (home version)”. Despite the lack of lyrics in this particular track, this became a personal favorite out of all the tracks. It communicated the meaning it wanted to tell just through the piano notes and instrumental. This song is giving gates of heaven. The 10th track is entitled “Sly”. This track also features Soloman Banks. The song’s refreshing beat is like a splash of water on a hot day. Sly is perfect to listen to in your car’s aux when you and your friends are having a long day ahead on the road.

Align is the album’s 11th track that features KasOnTheMic. This song serves as a commentary and a protest. To know what it was commenting against, you need to listen for yourself.
For the last song of the album, but certainly not least, “The World Is Ending.” A fitting conclusion to this album, J.Switay uses the metaphor of space to describe the love they’re feeling.

30 Years Down And All I Have To Show For It Is This Album is a roller coaster ride from its first song down to its last. It will definitely walk us through different eras in J.Switay’s life and significant experiences.
