Everyone Else Doesn’t Matter: A Review of Jake Vera’s Newest Track, “Mine”

Oh, what a joy it is to be loved by a poet. Jake Vera has just released his latest single titled, “Mine.” Join me as I discuss this new release and explain why everyone else doesn’t matter.

Jake Vera wasted no time and started the first verse at the 7-second mark. With everything moving from left to right, creating a track as concise as possible is an excellent way to keep listeners engaged.

The track begins with a flanger-distorted guitar riff that transports me back to the days of listening to songs like “Change (In The House Of Flies)” by Deftones. Jake Vera has a clear vision of his sound, which is a great asset for authenticity.

If you isolate the instrumentation, it seems to carry a negative connotation, but it is actually a tribute to Jake Vera’s soon-to-be wife. Phrases like “you make me feel alive” and “you are mine” clearly express affirmation and appreciation towards another person.

What I appreciate about “Mine” is Jake Vera’s rawness in expressing his truth. In the grand scheme of things, as an artist, one can always sprinkle in some figures of speech to enhance a song, but since the main reason Jake Vera created this song is to show his appreciation to his partner, he doesn’t feel the need to impress anyone.
