By my understanding, Disintegrate is a thrash metal song by Delirium’s Dawn. And it rocks. I’m super excited to be writing about these guys. Why? Because I keep trying to find more of this kind of music that I really enjoy listening to.
I know I like the sound. The guttural vocals and riffing guitars. The pounding drums.
But I don’t know what it is that makes the genre so hit or miss for me. Maybe it’s the quality of the guitar playing? Or how strategically it’s placed? How the music builds and releases? After all, it’s tough to balance these things with the unorthodox timings and deliveries that are arranged with these songs.
In any case, this song does it for me. And I think it does these things well. There’s a pacing and strategy behind the composition that often doesn’t feel like it’s well accounted for in other tracks in this vein. The guitars aren’t just mindless soloing, or the drummer just seeing how fast he can drum. The whole song is a composed odyssey of sound that is harmonically and melodically solid.
Thrash metal. Hope I’m getting the genre right. Never was a fan growing up. Now I’m grown, and I adore it. And it’s bands like this that are making me a convert.
