Discover new indie pop, and folk singer. Lizzy McAlpine and her Live EP: When the World Stopped Moving

Talking about female indie artists with a soothing voice that echoes around your four-wall room. Lizzy McAlpine, a 24-year-old singer-songwriter, captured my indie girl heart as I scrolled through a different playlist on Spotify. Her striking relatable lyrics strike the four parts of my heart, and her creativity as well as passion for writing lyrics shine in all of the songs featured in this EP. From feeling the butterflies flying in your stomach to feeling like their wings inside of it are slowly taking away from them. It was a roller coaster ride, or like riding in an Orange Show Speedway.  Her live extended play: When the World Stopped Moving was released on April 21, 2021. It consists of eight songs with a total length of 29 minutes and 3 seconds.

Here are the eight songs that indeed captured my different emotions.

    1.  In agreement: This song is about the feeling of not being used to a new healthy relationship you’re in because of the past traumas you have experienced, but now that you have found the right person, that is something you should hold on to.

‘’ I talk to my friends about, pretty sure they are tired of hearing’’

’’ I say I met a guy, and he treats me really nice, which is good for a change’’

Every lyric of this song is worth listening to, and you will laugh, be touched, and feel the same way about the person in the song

    1.  Let light be light – It’s about finding and feeling comfort in one specific person while at the same time feeling confused about how you feel and haunted by your past traumas. You are not used to it, but you want them around because they are good for your heart and mind.

‘’ But my therapist says to just let light be light, so im letting him stay around.

I think that he’s good for me, this boy that i have found’’ MUST LISTEN!

    1. What are we? – Talking about situationships, it’s the opposite of agreement. A must-listen.

    1. I don’t know you at all – Having a relationship with someone you have no deep connection with, communication isn’t working.

‘’I don’t know your phone number.

                      I don’t think I ever did.

I don’t know if you love coffee.

Or if you could live without it’’

    1. Angelina – When someone breaks your heart unexpectedly and you are seeking reasons and why’s.

    1. When the world stopped moving – realizing that your love wasn’t good enough soon as they found someone new, that even though you know them better than others do, it’s still not going to be enough for them to reciprocate your love

    1. Stupid –  One of the things you will experience after a breakup is longing for the person who is now in a different place.

    1. In what world – the song jumps from one perspective to another. A must-listen song about relationships

Her debut album, Give Me a Minute, was released in August 2020. Make sure to also check that out and listen to the song. Let’s support indie sad girls.

‘’Who the hell can write a love song without making it too sad? ’’’ – How do I tell you from the Give Me a Minute debut album
