Culture Killer and Undeniable Conviction

Culture Killer by Gender Reveal Atomic Bomb is a pointed protest song of sorts, unfilteredly listing off the frustration one deals with in relation to the current internet landscape and how things in social media bleeds over to real life and the equally frustrating points wherein hyper-capitalists try to do the inverse. The band lays the scene well with getting one into the mindset of being open to the political points the band makes as they rattle off topics like a blunt-force Twitter thread set to nu-metal meat-and-potatoes in the best way possible.

The track is a very honest and raw take on the matter, and while there are attempts to land with jokes here and there, the band plays the entire thing very straightforward, which admittedly makes the track a bit hard to give multiple listens to despite the passion for the topic, which is undeniable.

Instrumentally, it’s very noticeable and very complimentary to the vocals, which are very visceral and convinced as well as convincing in terms of what the message is. Without a doubt, you can tell from his delivery that these are topics that truly frustrate him and that makes the track resonant in mutual dread.

As far as protest songs go, they are supposed to make you feel a sense of anger or a sense of unity among other things, and despite the nature of it all, Culture Killer is honest and does manage to make you feel those very senses in its runtime. If this sounds like your vibe, give it a go. Trigger warnings not needed.
