Blues Aint Dead: Railroaded by John Doe Trio

Railroaded is a track from John Doe Trio. A British blues band from the UK. Let’s do a deep dive into the song and read why Blues Aint Dead.

The song started with this powerful crunchy guitar lick and eventually, that bass blues lick and thunderous raw drums came in leaving us static and shocked. The song has a lot of tropes which is a go-to for blues music. Real blues talks about hardships, pain, and suffering. Blues music merges more in a lyrical sense rather than a narrative sense.

What I like about this track is that it’s short but it has all the feels to it. You can listen to what the songwriter is feeling while writing the song. “Railroaded out of my welded mind” That lyric alone speaks volumes.

The bass solo in the latter part of the song is the perfect opening for that face-melting guitar solo sweeping us away from our feet and making us do the infamous “Stanky face”

Overall, Railroaded by John Doe Trio is a somewhat melancholic track. But keep in mind, it’s still true to that blues music that a lot of us are longing for. It’s not every day that you get to listen to new music that is true to its core and because of that, I firmly believe that Blues aint dead.
