Feeling lost, stuck, and alone at some point in life is inevitable. We’re prone to put up a protective barrier that we’ve always thought is good and is for the best, but “Your Solitude”, a song that coerces someone outward, believes otherwise.
Brightness & Light is an artist from Wales that excels in creating thought-provoking music with songwriting that provides easiness and comfort. “Your Solitude” is one of the eight songs on their full-length studio album, “I Dreamt I Had Insomnia”.
This song encapsulates the feeling of solitude pretty well, with its beginnings filled with vocalizations, the starting rhythm and progression, as well as the bassline. When the vocals kick in, it matches up with the mood the arrangement has set so far; it’s mostly a tame tone, acting as more of a sedation, as well as a friend who is there for you.
Speaking of which, the songwriting is genuine and written with the best of intentions. It talks about having these ‘walls’ that prevent one from experiencing the joys of life. Later on, the last chorus goes on to sing “Oh these walls within / Why don’t you (we) kick them in?” In order to free them from themself, which is such a gentle yet firm offer to grant someone.
