AECH’s ‘Remember’: A Filipino Band Redefining Country Rock

In all my years of reviewing and critiquing songs, it’s rare to come across a gem like this. AECH is a country rock band from Antipolo City. From the get-go, you’ll never imagine that a Filipino is behind that raspy voice. The accent, pronunciation, and the flow of the song as well as the instruments are on point making them a head-turner act. Let’s do a deep dive into their current single “Remember” and see why AECH is a force to be reckoned with.

Before I provide my insight and review for this song, let me do a quick crash course into songwriting. A song typically is created with what I call walls. The usual approach is constructed with two walls. The first wall consists of the songwriter’s inner voice. The inner voice is the songwriter’s self-statements and the second wall is the songwriter’s assertion. It can be in the form of a confident remark or a statement that can solidify the songwriter’s stance built within the theme of the song.

Remember is a song about traversing the deepest and darkest phase of any relationship known to man. In the verses, the character of the song creates statements that are relatable to the masses. Having a hard time moving forward in life, the bits and pieces of any core memory of a once-happy relationship are a few representations of what the character is facing.

In the chorus, the character makes a statement that solidifies his stance in the relationship making it more heartbreaking. Forever, I will be saying, I will wait for you. This is a die-hard statement. A statement sprung from the depths of someone who loves a person so much that they are willing to brave everything.

Overall, Remember is not just a song. It’s an experience. The feeling of losing the person that you care about the most and standing up for something that you wish one day will be granted. Give this track a listen and follow these talented horsemen on their socials to stay updated on their upcoming releases!
