Music from within: RĘMËMBËR EP by King Kelechi

RĘMËMBËR is the newest EP from up-and-coming artist, King Kelechi. In today’s world, we are overexposed to commercial music and I’m not saying it’s a bad thing but it’s a breath of fresh air to listen to music that is genuinely created from the heart. Music that came from a burning passion. A music that doesn’t care about what’s hip.

We are starting the EP off with WÅTCH MË. The track has a futuristic vibe, accompanied by the boomerang sound of the synth keyboard, which makes it a perfect first track. The added touch of the clean keyboard lick is a great layer to the overall sound giving depth to the track.

UN POCO is the second track of the EP and this is where it gets interesting. This track has this overall darker feel compared to the 1st track. The creepy keyboard lick in the latter part of the song creates this uneasy vibe.

INFATUATED is the third track of the EP which has cleaner sounding vocals compared to the previous tracks. By the third track, I can already determine that I’m listening to King Kelechi. His frequent use of this boomerang sound synth keyboard and the flow is what makes King Kelechi different compared to other artists within its genre.

The sample used in the intro to the fourth track of the EP titled, TELL is a great opener for this distorted vocal sound of the track. The clean keyboard sound in the middle of the track is weirdly positioned in a way but when the beat came in it made perfect sense!

And lastly, RUN has bars that are a perfect ending for this EP. The humming in the intro sits well in the overall track giving this melodic and repetitive “run” lyric.

Overall, RĘMËMBËR is a great EP because of how the songs are positioned. Some lyrics are easy to understand because the vocals are recorded cleanly. For songs like WÅTCH MË and UN POCO, I think some listeners will need to listen to those tracks a few more because of how the vocals are recorded.

But again, not everyone will mind the lyrics because RĘMËMBËR has fire beats and great musical flow. What I like about this EP is the genuinity of King Kelechi. In this day and age, we are more exposed to commercial tracks but artists like King Kelechi and Kendrick Lamar just to name a few are true pillars of the culture.
