Dogs by Flower and Pines: A Track Review

If you want something dark, theatrical, and vastly different from everything else released within this decade in the mainstream media, the track “Dogs,” released by the musicians Flower and Pines, is definitely for you. Formed in 2020 by Jegor Mickiewicz and Sasha Pushkin, this Poland-based band is guaranteed to give an eclectic and cinematic listening experience as they express their stories through impressive production and instrumentation while inducing creative visions to the listeners through their music.

Structure-wise, “Dogs” is like a free-flowing cynical poem that expresses the narrator’s ideas through impressive and reflective words that take on themes of reality and being able to escape it. This track is packed with hidden metaphors, which add to the theatrical effects of the track brought by the eerie-sounding drums and isolated vocals in the first parts of the piece, those metaphors include the themes depicting deep-seated worthlessness, which eventually end up wanting to blend in the walls to escape attention. Moreover, while the track represents a crisis in the personal existence of the narrator, it also carries a strong sense of identity as depicted through wanting to just stay away from everything and just be invisible, which somehow becomes relatable to some as they go through their everyday lives.

Flower and Pines released an interesting and thought-provoking piece through “Dogs.” This track carries an eerie and dark vibe as depicted through its lyrics, accentuated by the driving sounds of its instrumentation, expressive and impressive vocals, and outstanding performance of the band. It is worth noting how carefully placed all the elements of this track are, making it a track that is worthy of your listening.
