Listen to This Is Only a Test by Crooked Cranes if you want tracks that hits and lingers

You can always tell when the artists had fun making a project together, the way it reflects in every finished work which shows the chemistry and energy resonates with the audiences. For Crooked Cranes, their hot debut EP This is Only a Test is that project where they shared joy in the process. Written and recorded in the basement over drinks and smoke, this EP is a must listen for stoner rock and alternative music

The first track GF is the perfect starter and tone-setter for the whole EP. It captures the energy and vibes that the band is going for in the EP. It has that classic alternative rock from the 90s with addicting guitar hooks and riffs, paired with a steady groove backbeats that are aggressive yet not too heavy. The lyrics, on the other hand, are the opposite of the feel good vibes. It’s dark and sarcastic which evokes themes of betrayal and cheating. The drama it brought when it started with a line, “Dad slept with my girlfriend”, definitely a standout track.

Mehico as the second song gives a different vibe, far from how it started. It has upbeat and nostalgic notes which makes it a perfect track for an afternoon drive. The drums are groovy yet much more laid back from the first track. It emulates that wild adventure in a specific place, and it will make you envision a film-like scene with their amazing storytelling.

The third track Dolfin started with a light and captivating lead guitar that highlights the riff-driven notes from stone rock and alternative music. The way the rhythm and lyrics flow together smoothly, it’s steady and relaxed, a bit psychedelic and hazy.

Interstate Song as the fourth track maintained the energy of the EP. Compared to the other tracks, it’s much more gentle and slow than the first three. It pushes the listener for a reflection with its melancholic and soul-searching vibe, a kind of night drive after a long, exhausting day.

Met a Gurl, on the other hand, captures the emotional impact of divorce and a relationship that fell apart. Compared to the first tracks, it does not leave a hint of playfulness and groove.

The last song is NeWay that perfectly concludes the EP. It’s groovy and invites the listener to unwind and immerse fully into the song – to be carried away into beats and rhythm.

Overall, the tracks are not overproduced, it’s raw and unfiltered that hits and lingers. This Is Only a Test is a must-listen for stoner rock and alternative music fans!
