Have you ever felt drained, or had the feeling that everything you do and come to know just lost all its meaning? Xy Gala explains that phenomena well through his single “Lifeless Life” a song on the line between pop and alternative rock, but its real focus is on the emotion in the words within.
With the feeling of numbness and lack of purpose through lines such as “The world’s on fire but I feel no pain” and “Living this life like a marionette”, Xy Gala really makes all the people, if not everyone, seen with this somewhat collective experience: the blankness and lifelessness one possesses at a certain point in their life.
The solo matches the calm, almost nonchalant energy of the track. The lyrics enumerate situations, utilizing metaphors to fully explain exactly what it feels to feel lifeless in already observable and/or tangible circumstances.
It’s about apathy; referring to the lifeless life as something amusing to observe, giving listeners a hint that this may also be reflecting on the notion that each and every human being is insignificant. However, this song is able to have a melody that would keep and attract an audience, all the while tackling a very serious feeling.
All in all, it’s a great listen. It wouldn’t keep you long, but it would make you stay and keep coming back for more. Everything about the arrangement and the overall style is simple yet the hook is addicting in itself. This would definitely make a good recommendation.
